Update on Copper Residences 9/5/2026
The owner of the Westin Kierland Resort has filed a third rezoning application with the City of Phoenix to convert the 72-acre Mesquite Golf Course into the Copper Residences housing development, though nearby residents continue to push back.
Current Status/Latest Submissions: A third revision of the project was recently submitted to the city, according to community updates from the Kierland Community Alliance.Hearing Delays: The case will not be heard by the Paradise Valley Village Planning Committee in September as previously anticipated, and a new public hearing date has not yet been announced.Location Note: While widely associated with the Scottsdale border, the property technically falls under the jurisdiction of the City of Phoenix.Project
Details of The Plan: Convert one of the resort's three nine-hole courses (Mesquite) into up to roughly 798 residential units, reducing the golf facility from 27 to 18 holes (retaining the Ironwood and Acacia courses).North Site: About 16 acres north of Greenway Parkway featuring four-story, high-end attached condominiums (10 to 15 units per acre).South Site: About 56 acres south of Greenway Parkway featuring a lower-density mix of condos and traditional single-family homes.

He's the father of two beautiful pups and loves to workout, train folks, and all things Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin.
